Healthy Chocolate Oat Rounds

Updated: Dec 15, 2019

Okay, people. I'm a chocolate lover and I openly admit I love a good piece of dark chocolate more often than not. I've been wanting to make a version of chocolate protein balls and came through with this recipe. These rounds are made with ingredients I always have on hand such as whole wheat flour, oats, coconut oil and chocolate chips, just to name a few.

Prunes serve as the glue to these rounds and give them its sticky dough-like texture. These are great for when you're craving a sweet chocolatey snack but don't want junk! The best solution for avoiding junk is to make it yourself.

-THE RECIPE-

2 scoops Orgain chocolate protein powder

1/2 cup oats

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

1 tsp vanilla extract

6 prunes

3/4 cup water

1 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

2 tbsp coconut oil

2 tbsp honey

Combine dry ingredients and put aside in a large bowl. Melt coconut oil and add into a blender with water and prunes. Blend together until smooth.

Add wet ingredients to the dry mixture and fold until evenly combined. Add chocolate chips. Use small ice cream scoop to measure uniform rounds. Line a sheet with parchment paper and place balls on sheet (about 1-inch apart). Refrigerate for at least 30 mins before consuming. Keep refrigerated until you eat & happy snacking!
